Dorai creates eco-friendly home products, that naturally prevent mold, for house-proud consumers who value good design. We aspire to create sustainable solutions that prevent mold in all areas of the home where unwanted moisture is present (bathroom, kitchen, etc). We combine our unique material with sophisticated design to deliver eco-chic home products such as our Bath Stone, Coasters, Dish Rack, Dish Pad.
We want to help people to make life easier through natural technologies that reduce the need for toxins and chemicals. We see the multitude of benefits that Diatomaceous Earth (DE or fossilized algae) can bring to the home: it’s a natural pesticide, 100% compostable, prevents mold and bacteria, food-safe, non-toxic.
Founder Story Jason has a product development company and in his research discovered this material that’s used to remove water and kill bugs. He showed it to Kelsey who was skeptical at first, but then started using it around the home and doing her own research. She then realized it was both a pain point and broad market demand for natural, non-toxic solutions that are better designed and look chic in the home.
We created prototypes to test a concept, given Kelsey’s background in building compelling digital brands and Jason’s product development expertise, we executed a successful Kickstarter campaign and decided to continue to expand the brand to address use-cases throughout the home.
We launched our Bath Stone on Kickstarter in Aug of 2018 and did $70k in sales in 30-days. We now sell this and our River Rock Coasters on our website.
