Fast Penny Spirits is a woman-owned and operated amaro distillery and Certified B CorpTM. Based in Seattle and inspired by the founder’s Italian heritage, the company is committed to stirring up change. Blended with a combination of the highest-quality, wild-crafted, organic, and consciously- sourced botanicals, Fast Penny’s spirits are rich, herbaceous, and captivating. Luxurious and refined, their Italian-style amari - Amaricano and Amaricano Bianca - are beautifully complex to sip on their own or swirl into a cocktail. Founder Story I come from Sicilian heritage with a family who has been making liqueurs and wine at home for generations. My love of amaro started in my 20s during my travels around Italy, where I would purchase bottles from various towns. When I was looking to shift careers and start a new business, I wanted to do something I was passionate about. The aha moment happened when my husband and I were having an after dinner amaro at a local Seattle bar and we asked the bartender to try some American-made amari. During that experience, I was inspired to produce my own take on a complex Italian-style amaro. I worked on the recipe for two and half years beginning in the summer of 2017. There was a lot of experimenting! I started with over a hundred botanicals before choosing the 45+ in our final recipe.
When the pandemic hit our area of the country, I was working full-time as a partner in a large firm and launching a distillery on the side. In March of 2020 after much reflection, I decided to leave my career in digital and go full-time at Fast Penny Spirits. We launched our two flagship amari: Amaricano and Amaricano Bianca, in July of 2020.
