Founder Story It all started with -20°C, a happy dog, an old jacket and a sewing machine.
It was a cold winter day in my small mountain village of Åre, Sweden. My dog, Labbe, was eager to go out for our long morning walk. I was tired of our cold dog walks but you do things for those you love, so off we went!
We walked all around our small mountain village, passing the workers at the ski area and people out shoveling the sidewalks. The seductive smell of freshly baked bread led us down the hill to the bakery. While taking a small break inside with my warm cup of coffee and a fresh croissant I realized that something was missing in my wardrobe. Why did I wear a big down parka and a pair of jeans with long underwear? I needed something that could keep my bum and my legs warm too.
After breakfast, I ran home with an idea! I found an old down parka in my basement, grabbed a pair of scissors, sat at my old sewing machine and went to work. A few hours later the first down skirt saw the light of the day. It wasn’t the most sophisticated design or the best fit, but it did the job- it was functional and it kept me warm!
The next morning I dragged Labbe out on a very early walk and laughed my way through our small village, my bum warm the entire way!
That fateful walk was already 20 years ago and many things have changed since our humble beginnings. What hasn’t changed is our desire to create happy, versatile, and functional clothing for women who thrive outside.
