Susan Clayton is the inventor and owner of RunMitts, LLC, an apparel company specializing in fleece and water-resistant patented mittens or runners and active people of all ages and abilities. Founded in 2016. as a runner frustrated by the lack of gloves or mittens that could keep hands warm on winter runs while easily converting to something cooler when needed. Susan designed a functional mitten that can be folded back to release fingers and slide down the wrist – all while a runner is still in motion.With RunMitts, the impetus was personal, as an enthusiastic runner, I grappled with the perennial issue of keeping my fingers and thumbs warm during cold-weather training sessions. Frustrated by the lack of suitable options in the market, I took matters into my own hands and developed WhitePaws RunMitts—a RunMitts marks my second venture, following the successful operation of a hair salon for over 27 years. While closing the salon was a tough decision, it allowed me to fully commit to the growth of RunMitts, LLC. The genesis of my first business stemmed from the necessity of health insurance, a need unmet by our former employer. Upon realizing the feasibility of opening our own salon, my partner and I embarked on that journey.
