Founder Story Absinthia Vermut, an entrepreneurial spirit with a profound love for vintage libations featuring wormwood, embarked on her journey into the world of absinthe in 1996. Just a few months later, on April Fool's Day 1997, she shared her initial batches of bootleg absinthe with friends, earning her the nom de plum, "Absinthia." In a twist of fate, Vermut, meaning wormwood in German, was discovered to be her birth surname, a revelation that came years after she had already embraced the name Absinthia.
In 2013, Absinthia made her mark by legally changing her name to Absinthia, securing a trademark, and establishing Absinthia’s Bottled Spirits, LLC. The mission was clear—to bring her meticulously crafted organic absinthe to a broader audience. Thus, Absinthia™ Organic Absinthe Blanche Supérieure made its debut in bars, restaurants, and bottle shops in 2017.
The accolades swiftly followed, with Absinthia's Blanche Supérieure clinching its first gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2018, marking the official transition from bootlegger to award-winning absintheure. This recognition solidified Absinthia's status as a pioneer in the world of absinthe, setting the stage for a remarkable journey.
In 2021, Absinthia expanded her repertoire by acquiring Nickel Dime cocktail syrups, a venture in which she was a founding partner. Today, Absinthia’s Bottled Spirits proudly produces four distinct absinthes, four cocktail syrups, and two curated gift packs—with more innovative products in the pipeline.
