Founder Story We're Tori and Tyler Farley, siblings and co-founders of Better Than Belts.
In Tyler's last year of college, he became frustrated with his belts. He was dealing with an extreme case of mono, and the resulting weight fluctuation made the restriction around his waist extra uncomfortable. Looking for an alternative, our dad suggested he consider suspenders.
Any old suspenders were not going to work. He is a huge sneakerhead, passionate about fashion, and above-average height at 6'3". He needed stylish, durable suspenders that would seamlessly fit in his existing wardrobe. A quick search revealed that the US had two main suspenders markets. The first was formal wear, and the second was cheaper costume goods (Halloween).
Never discouraged, he was excited by the potential gap in the market and approached Tori to be his cofounder. Tori's background in startup marketing and analytics complemented Tyler's budding passion for fashion and design. Together they tacked the opportunity to create a new, better product with US manufacturing.
