Fancywork Yarn Shop

Sometimes dreams really do come true. Just like fiber artists of all kinds, My mother taught me to knit at a young age. And while I took time off from fiber arts during my college years and again when I was starting a family, my love of working with wool never left me. Along the way, my mom and I would talk about how wonderful it would be to own a yarn shop – the idea being that one could sit in their shop all day, playing with yarn and talking with like-minded crafters. But the reality is that yarn shops are hard work, rarely profitable, and business ownership leaves little time for actual knitting on the job. So I did not pursue that dream for many years. Instead I worked hard to build a career in graphic design and brand strategy. But over time I missed my knitting. And I began to see how important the act of crafting is to maintaining a sense of balance in life. Picking up my knitting needles and moving yarn through my hands became a way for me to re-center myself each day while learning new skills and making things that I was really proud of. My hope is that others will feel a similar sense of wellness, peace, confidence and accomplishment through making as well.
