Food For The Sole
Food For The Sole makes healthy and gourmet dehydrated meals for everything from a backcountry adventure, to road trip food, to a pantry meal at home.
Julie has been involved with food one way or another nearly her entire life, and after a solo backpacking trip in 2015 yielded a less than enticing meal, Julie started learning how to dehydrate food so that her meals on the trail would match the amazing experiences she had in the backcountry. Some months down the road Julie's son Henry asked her to furnish the meals for a month-long backpacking trip he was planning with a friend. Henry and his friend were taking several pounds of camera gear so lightened their load by leaving home as much equipment as they could- including their stove. This challenged Julie to create meals that would rehydrate quickly with cool water, and the idea of cold-soak salads was born. Henry told his friends about the amazing meals that Julie had created and the demand for her unique take on dehydrated food grew quickly. Come January of 2018, the desire to start a business was too strong to ignore and Food For The Sole launched online, while Julie rented space in a commercial kitchen to begin her entrepreneurial journey.
