Maiven Sailing
Women-founded modern sailing apparel and technical layers for all.
Kate Hearsey and Rachel Gardner have brought their expertise and passion together to form Maiven, an apparel brand focused on providing modern performance sailing pieces and lifestyle apparel logo-wear.
Kate Hearsey has grown up racing and was part of the all-female team Sail Like a Girl that won Race to Alaska in 2018. She races consistently throughout the year on several different boats but is a core member of C&C 115 Elusive, a boat that is consistently in the top 10 for the Northwest. Kate, with a degree in design and merchandising, has worked as a buyer, vendor manager and analyst for Seattle-based organizations such as Amazon and Blue Nile. She brings 15+ years of merchandising, operational and product development expertise to Maiven.
Rachel Gardner worked as a deckhand on big boats for many years in her twenties and found racing a decade later as a core member of the Elusive team. Rachel is the current Board VP for Pink Boat Regatta, a non-profit focused on raising funds for breast cancer research through sailing events. Additionally, she volunteers as the webmaster for Race Week PNW, an annual regatta held in Anacortes, WA. Rachel has worked as an E-Commerce Director at several Northwest-based retailers and brands including Zumiez, evo, Cascade Designs and Oiselle. She brings 15+ years of experience with e-commerce, digital marketing, technology and merchandising.
