Our online training programs provide at-home video workouts that are mental health-informed, body-positive, & free from diet culture. Perfect cross-training for outdoor recreation, designed to support an active lifestyle without getting in the way, and all from your living room. Our programs are available by subscription on a monthly or annual basis.
In 2016 I was living in Valdez, Alaska - a tiny coastal town in rural Alaska known for its ski scene. I was running the one gym in town, finishing up my social work master's degree, and learning to backcountry ski in my spare time. Over the course of a few months, I had multiple aha moments that showed me how interrelated these three areas were. 1) The workout classes I was teaching in the gym were hugely helpful for my learning curve on skis. 2) In my social work practicum, we were learning about how effective exercise can be for depression, anxiety, trauma, and healing. 3) If we dug below the surface, my personal training clients in the gym had mental health concerns that were impacting how they felt about movement & their bodies. 4) my gym workouts and new mental health skills were helping me have more fun outside and take on challenges that I hadn't thought were possible for me, including winning the Alaska Mountain Wilderness Ski Classic. After that mind-blowing success, I realized I wanted to put the mental & physical training that had worked so well for me into an online format so others could have their own empowering experiences outside. And Mind & Mountain was born!
