Mon Balon's mom founded a second hand ski shop in 1980 in Melbourne Australia to try and make skiing more affordable and inclusive for families. 34 years later, after closing down her family ski shop business (6 years ago), Mon Balon went online with her ski shop. During the first winter she had a customer who suggested a plus size only ski shop - Great idea! The next year Plus Snow was born in Australia. Now that Mon is living in Canada during the pandemic, she has fast forwarded her plans to launch Plus Snow into a dot com site for the Northern Hemisphere. Advocating for plus size bodies in the great outdoors, Plus Snow strives to aid outerwear brands create inclusive sizing in plus and extended sizes created by real demand from real bodies. The outdoors is for every body, it's time for more plus size outerwear choice, higher quality and highly technical outdoor clothing and to break the stereo type that plus size bodies are inactive, unwilling, weak or lazy.
