Susan Buckwalter is an avid athlete who was in search of a drink she could enjoy after a workout that wasn’t loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients. She had been introduced to the anti-inflammatory effects of ginger as an adult, but wishes she had discovered it sooner. As a collegiate athlete in the women’s decathlon, Susan was plagued by shin splints and inflammation from training. The athletic trainers insisted she take large does of ibuprofen, resulting in a stomach ulcer at the age of 19. Later, Susan discovered there were plant-based solutions that would help with her (and others) post-workout recovery and daily wellness.

With a background in natural products and brand innovation, she saw an opportunity to serve wellness-minded people and build a brand that championed recoup’s central mission: to help people feel better and live well. She teamed up with Siwat Siengsanaoh who developed the ginger-based recipe from the home remedies that helped him recover from significant health issues as a child. Before Siwat was twelve, he had ten major surgeries and his mom’s home recipes helped him feel better after each. In fact, ginger has been clinically proven to fight inflammation, support post-workout muscle recovery, aid digestive health and boost immunity. Recoup combines pressed organic ginger with organic sustainably-harvested tree water (the world’s only sustainable source of fresh water) to deliver a delicious, refreshing and ultra-hydrating beverage.
