Meghan learned about the effect the fashion and textile industry had on humans and the earth while studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Horrified, she dedicated herself to learning about alternative methods of production and sourcing that could be done in a more ethical and sustainable way for both people and the planet. She co-founded the rooftop natural dye garden at FIT, and that was the beginning of a long journey of working with plants and textiles. She was inspired by the beautiful colors we can achieve through plants and the concept of turning materials considered waste into something beautiful. Rosemarine Textiles launched in 2018 as a way to reduce the waste involved in the wedding and events industry by creating a selection of hand dyed silk ribbons, table coverings and cotton gauze napkins, but quickly grew into an accompanying line of accessories as well. Each product is made by hand in our Detroit studio with love and intention, while minimizing water use and working with only natural fibers and plant dyes.
