VNTRbirds

VNTRbirds (venture birds) is a women run adventure company based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains specializing in women focused outdoor education and experiences.

VNTRbirds brings women-identifying and non-binary riders (who are comfortable in femme-centered spaces) together to build confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing/splitboarding, and community meet ups. VNTRbirds focuses on holistic learning that’s led by women and for women that encourages to own their identities as outdoor athletes in a way that’s inclusive and fun. We provide safer places for learning, mentorship for long term growth, and forums for community and connection with the goal of seeing more women of all demographics on mountain bikes, splitboards, and skis.

We strive to keep our events at low cost, providing a more accessible and therefore, more inclusive outdoors.

Leanne Wren: Guiding Women Through Winter's Wonder
As the lead backcountry guide for VNTRbirds, Leanne Wren embodies the spirit of exploration. An all-around outdoor adventurer, she thrives in the mountains, whether she’s carving through powder on her snowboard or navigating rugged trails on her mountain bike. Leanne's diverse experience allows her to guide clients safely through exhilarating winter terrains, always prioritizing risk assessment and tolerance.

Leanne understands that the essence of adventure lies in balancing challenge and safety. She engages in ongoing discussions with her team about the appropriateness of various terrains for different skill levels. Her goal is to create an environment where beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders can all experience growth and excitement, pushing their limits while remaining in a safer zone. Her enthusiasm for the backcountry is infectious, inspiring countless women to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new challenges.

Kelley Wren: Inspiring Women in the Outdoors
Kelley Wren, the head mountain bike coach for VNTRbirds, has long been a beacon of inspiration for women in outdoor sports. Her journey began with a deep-seated love for snowboarding, which opened the door to incredible experiences in breathtaking locations around the world. However, it was her desire to see more women in the outdoors that motivated her to establish VNTRbirds in 2011. Kelley envisioned a community where women could find opportunities to explore and enjoy the passions that had once brought her so much joy.

In her role as a mountain bike coach, Kelley focuses on creating a welcoming atmosphere for beginners. She recognizes the importance of building confidence and competence, ensuring that her clients tackle new skills without fear. Under her guidance, women can revel in the thrill of mountain biking, surrounded by a supportive community that celebrates every milestone, big or small.

A Shared Vision
Together, Leanne and Kelley have forged a path for women in outdoor sports, blending their expertise with a commitment to fostering a safe and encouraging environment. VNTRbirds stands as a testament to their shared vision: to empower women to take risks, embrace new adventures, and build a community that supports and uplifts one another.

As they guide clients through the majestic landscapes of Breckenridge and beyond, the Wren sisters are not just teaching skills; they are cultivating a culture of courage and camaraderie among women in the outdoors. With VNTRbirds, Leanne and Kelley continue to inspire the next generation of adventurers to explore the great outdoors, one ride and one run at a time.
